Ground Mount Solar Panel Installations

Your roof is not the right place for panels, but your land is.

If you have land to spare, the ground is frequently a better place for panels than the roof. You can point them exactly where they need to go, you can size the array around your usage instead of around the roof, and nobody has to get on a ladder to clean them.

We design and install ground-mounted solar across San Antonio, Cibolo and South Texas, on everything from a corner of a residential lot to open acreage on a commercial or agricultural property.

When a ground mount is the right call

  • The roof is the wrong shape or direction

A steep pitch facing north is not going to produce, however many panels you put on it. Open ground can be pointed wherever the sun is.

  • The roof is too old

If the roof needs replacing in a few years, putting panels on it means taking them off again. A ground mount sidesteps the whole problem.

  • Trees, and everything else that shades

Shading is the single biggest killer of production. Ground mounts can usually be sited clear of it.

  • You want a bigger system than the roof allows

Roof area is a hard ceiling. On land, the size of the array is decided by what you need rather than by what fits.

What is different about the work

A ground mount is a small piece of civil engineering before it is a solar array. There are foundations to set, a racking structure that has to stand up to South Texas wind loading, and a trench run back to the building for the conductors. That last one is the part that surprises people: distance costs money, so where the array sits relative to your service entrance genuinely affects the price.

All of the electrical work is done by our own master electrician, and we are a licensed electrical contractor, TECL #27328. The utility rebate application, the permit and the inspection are handled by us, the same as on any other job.

The production guarantee applies here too

If anything, a ground mount is the easiest case to forecast, because we are not working around an existing roof's pitch and orientation — we choose them. We file the annual production figure with the utility and then guarantee it, exactly as we would on a rooftop system.

Common questions

Will solar work if my roof is the wrong shape or too old?

Sometimes the roof is not the right place for panels, and that is what ground mounts are for. Shading and architecture can also make a property a poor candidate. We will tell you if that is the case, and we will tell you before you have spent anything.

What is a Power Generation Guarantee?

Every contractor has to file a production forecast with the utility supplying your rebate. We guarantee that number. If your system does not produce the annual kWh logged on your rebate application over the three-year guarantee period, that is on us. Most warranties come from the equipment manufacturer and are set by industry standard, not by your contractor. This one is ours.

Is financing available?

Yes. There are $0 down options, and we work with long-term and short-term plans through credit unions and banks, plus a one-year same-as-cash option in-house. The point of financing here is to let the system pay for itself while you own it.

Tell us about the property

Roof or land, home or business, and roughly what you pay CPS a month. That is enough for us to come back with something useful.
